Where possible everything in a Bali garden is raised off the ground - it makes sense as it brings your flowers and plants up to eye level, frees up floor space and adds interest to your environment. Pedestals are multifunctional:
· They can be used as outdoor stands for pots and statues and indoors as a night table or side table - try adding a different top
· Secure a top of polished marble, stone, wood or coloured glass to two or more pedestals to create a hall table, sofa table etc.
· They can be planted - this works really well when planted with a bushy fern in the top section to recreate a palm tree effect.
· They can be light from within and puddle light brilliantly - place outdoors, on a doorstep or a landing
· Of course add a bowl to your pedestal to create a water feature, planter or birdbath. Again top with wood, stone or glass to create a unique coffee table.
· The more adventurous among you could adapt your pedestalled bowls to function as fire torches by adding gel etc.... Only pedestals and bowls cast in concrete would be suitable for this purpose. We can give no guarantee that using your pieces in this manner would not damage or hasten their wear and tear. Seek expert advice.
In Bali the bowls are simply placed on top of the pedestals and that is how they are sold to you. It is an individual preference if you decide to secure your bowl to its accompanying pedestal.
